Establish a regular routine.
Do a daily brain dump by writing down all the ideas, thoughts, tasks that pop to mind. Write them all down and then sort them later so that your mind is clear to begin your day. Some people do this as a journal upon awakening.
Understand your own body’s timetable with high-energy periods devoted to creative tasks and low energy periods in which to do mundane chores.
Prioritize tasks over a week’s schedule allocating the high-energy periods effectively.
Batch similar tasks such as checking and answering emails, filing, driving errands. Try not to let these batch able tasks pop up while focusing on more important things.
Take breaks, socialize and let your brain decompress.
When you don’t have the energy to take on a big task, make a 5-minute list – things you can do in a short time when your energy is low to reduce the To-Do list.
Try not to multi-task as the brain works better when it is focused on a task.
Make your routine more fun by adding music or meeting or working in a park or in a coffee shop.
Use creative procrastination to evaluate whether or not some tasks really need to be addressed, as some things take care of themselves over time.
Intermittent and planned stimulation can help to keep you on track.
Coffee is good for a short time, but too much can be detrimental to concentration. Different types of music for different tasks, including relaxation, is useful and enjoyable as is a glance at the newspaper, listening to a radio program during the 5-minutes tasks or drinking a healthy juice drink between goals or tasks. Keep a pad of paper handy to capture ideas for later consideration. Look these over at the start of the day and write about them as you brain dump into a journal. Keep the juices flowing and harnessed to keep on track, enjoy your work and be as productive as possible. Don’t forget to take some time off and fully decompress be it beach, mountains, or in the backyard with good books! Don’t forget these 10 Ways to Be More Productive.
Write them down.
To your success!
